Introduction

Hypnotik FX offers seamless integration with the Control4 system. Dedicated Control4 drivers have been created for both the X-Pro and Audio Reactive devices, allowing users to easily control their Hypnotik FX lighting directly through their Control4 interface.
 

Depending on the Hypnotik FX hardware you are installing, ensure you have downloaded the correct .c4z driver file:

  • For X-Pro Devices: Hypnotik-IP-WLED-Led-Strip-Driver-5ch.c4z
  • For Audio Reactive Devices: Hypnotik-IP-WLED-Led-Strip-Driver-dig.c4z

CRITICAL: Do Not Rename Driver Files The original filenames must remain exactly as listed above during the entire installation and update process. Do not alter the filenames in any way. Control4 relies on these exact file structures for SDDP discovery, device identification, and future version updates. Renaming the file will break the integration.


Installation

Automatic SDDP installation

Because Hypnotik FX devices are SDDP-enabled, they automatically appear in the Discovered tab within the System Design view.


To add a device to your Control4 project, use either of these methods:

  • Method 1: Double-click the device.
  • Double-click the desired driver, or right-click it and select Add to Project.

  • Method 2: Right-click the device and select Add to Project.

    Manual SDDP installation

    Step 1: Prepare the Drivers (For Local Installation) If you are installing the drivers locally, first download them from the Hypnotik FX website. Move the driver files into your local Control4 directory: C:\Users\YourUsername\Documents\Control4\Drivers


         Step 2: Add the Driver to Your Project

  1. Navigate to the System Design view and locate the Search tab.

  2. Choose your search method:

    • Local: Select this if you placed the downloaded files in your local Drivers folder.
    • Online/Cloud: Select this to search directly within the Control4 cloud database.

  3. Type "Hypnotik" in the search bar to locate the drivers. You will need to select the correct driver based on your device:

    • For Audio Reactive devices: Hypnotik IP WLED RGBC Digital Led Strip Driver
    • For X-Pro devices: IP WLED RGBC 5-in-1 Led Strip Driver Development

    4. Double-click the desired driver, or right-click it and select Add to Project.

    Step 3: Bind the Device via SDDP

    1. Switch to the Connections view and select the Network tab.
    2. Look at the right side of the screen to find the Available Devices section. All devices discovered via SDDP will be listed here.
    3. Click and drag your specific Hypnotik FX device from the Available Devices list and drop it onto your newly added driver under the IP Network Connections list. This binds the physical device to the driver in your project.


Troubleshooting: Missing Device IP Because this is a manual process, the driver's auto-population feature may time out before it can grab the device's network information.

If the Device IP field is blank after completing the SDDP setup:

  1. Select the device in your project tree.
  2. Open the Actions tab.
  3. Click the Import SDDP Info button to instantly populate the IP address and remaining network details


Driver Update

1: Download the Latest Driver First, download the most recent version of the driver (for your Audio Reactive device, X-Pro device, or both) from the Hypnotik FX website and save it to a known location on your computer, such as your Downloads folder.

2: Initiate the Update in Composer Pro You can trigger the update using one of two methods:

  • Method A (Project Tree): In the System Design view, locate the existing Hypnotik FX device in your project tree. Right-click the device and select Update Driver.


  • Method B (Top Menu): Click the Driver menu located in the top navigation bar, then select Add or Update Driver or Agent.


3: Select the New File Both of the methods above will open a file selection window. Navigate to the folder where you saved the downloaded driver, and double-click the file to select it. Composer Pro will then process the file and update the driver for your devices.


Auto Update

Choose one of two methods to add the Hypnotik FX driver to your project:

Method A: Via the 'Discovered' Tab

Because Hypnotik FX devices feature native SDDP support, Composer Pro automatically detects them on the local network.

  1. In the System Design view, navigate to the Discovered tab on the right-hand panel.
  2. Locate your Hypnotik FX device in the list.
  3. Double-click the device (or right-click and select Add to Project).

Note: This method automatically downloads/updates the required driver and handles the network binding simultaneously.

Method B: Via the 'Search' Tab

  1. In the System Design view, navigate to the Search tab.

  2. Select your search location:

    • Local: Ensure the driver file is downloaded from the Hypnotik FX website and placed in C:\Users\username\Documents\Control4\Drivers.
    • Cloud: Select this to pull the latest driver directly from the Control4 cloud store.
  3. Type "Hypnotik" in the search bar.

  4. Select the correct driver for your hardware:

    • For Audio Reactive devices: Hypnotik IP WLED RGBC Digital Led Strip Driver
    • For X-Pro devices: IP WLED RGBC 5-in-1 Led Strip Driver Development
  5. Double-click the driver, or right-click and select Add to Project.

Important Note on Updating Existing Drivers

If you are trying to update an existing driver that is already in your project, adding a newer version from the Search or Discovered tab updates the master file on the Director, but it does not automatically reload the updated driver code onto previously configured devices. (method not recommended for this reason)

If you added a new driver instance to update the driver version, complete these cleanup steps so your existing devices receive the update:

  1. Delete the Unbound Device: If you added a new device solely to trigger the update, delete that newly added instance from your project tree if added from Search section (unless you intend to keep and bind it to a new physical unit).
  2. Reboot the Director: Reboot the Control4 Director. This forces the system to reload the newly updated driver across all existing Hypnotik FX devices in the project, ensuring all new features and bug fixes take effect.
